The Texas State University StarCats PRSSA Bateman Team is proud to launch a systemwide student storytelling competition in partnership with ACCESS Newswire, a national press release distribution platform used by media professionals across industries.

Culture in Common invites students to share meaningful stories about campus culture, community, and personal experience with the opportunity to publish their work on a professional newswire and gain real-world media exposure.
By entering the Culture in Common Competition, students gain:

This competition is designed to bridge classroom learning with real-world professional practice.
How to Submit
Students will submit a one page paper responding to the following prompt:​
- Tell a story about a college experience, a unique tradition, or community that has influenced how you navigate college life. What makes your campus culture unique? What experiences or influences make you unique, and how do they help you connect with your school’s community? Stories should explore themes of culture, background, community, or a defining personal experience and be appropriate for a university audience.

- Once you have written your story, select one journalist in your area through ACCESS Newswire who relates to the topic of your story.
